Artist at Work | Yasmin De Jesus

Yasmin De Jesus is an Afro-Latina muralist and artist from Newark, New Jersey, whose work emphasizes positive change and social impact. Yasmin’s works include the “Newark Voices” mural at Audible’s HQ, part of the Newark Artist Collaboration, the “Stronger Together” mural at a Community Center in Newark, in partnership with Redbull and the NJ Devils’ P.K. Subban and “Paradise in the City” in partnership with the GRAMMY Museum Experience at Newark’s Prudential Center. De Jesus has also completed commissions with the Girl Scouts of America (“Dream Big” mural) and Rutgers University (“Center of Hope” mural). Earlier, from 2010 to 2019, Yasmin created numerous murals around the City of Newark, working with Yendor Productions and other sponsors.

Yasmin’s Murals have become powerful voices, echoing the importance of diversity, activism, and education. They stand tall as symbols of unity, inspiring others to break free from the chains of poverty and violence. Each stroke tells a story, an invitation to dream big and persevere in the face of adversity.

About Stronger Together

Unveiling of Yasmin De Jesus’s mural, "Stronger Together," in collaboration with PK Subban, in Newark

Stronger Together aims to promote diversity in hockey and to pay homage to those hockey players who paved the way for players like the New Jersey Devils’ P.K. Subban to thrive in the NHL. The work references historic hockey players of color and nods to ethnic and linguistic cultures heavily represented in Newark.
