About Cindy Goncalves
Cindy is a Luso-American queer, feminist twenty-something. She received a BA in psychology from Rutgers University and an MA in counseling with a concentration in school counseling from Kean University. She was a featured Newark Voices poet in the 2016 Dodge Poetry Festival and continues to work with the Dodge Foundation as a visiting poet in the Poetry in Schools program. In 2017, she was the honorary poet for Newark Pride’s flag-raising ceremony. She is also one-eighth of Brick City Collective, a multicultural, multimedia group of Newark-native writers and artists working as agents for social change through literature and art.
